“tart acidity and gritty, dusty tannins”
Chianti is synonymous with Italian wine, so we wanted you to have a classic example of perhaps the most famous Italian wine there is. Monteraponi is a fantastic small family estate based in the village of Radda in Chianti. They’ve worked their vineyards organically for decades.
This 2017 Chianti Classico is a brick red color, and gives off a wonderful bouquet of herbs on the nose: thyme, marjoram, fennel seed, and rosemary. Another hallmark of great Sangiovese is tart red fruit, and here you’ll find sour cherry, cranberry and pomegranate, which all hits your palate with a rush of tart acidity and finishes with pleasantly gritty, dusty tannins.

Pork and fennel meatballs
These porchetta-inspired meatballs are best served simply: with some greens lightly wilted in the hot skillet after the meatballs are done, tossed with a splash of aged balsamic vinegar. Also wonderful warmed in a simple marinara. And served with this perfect Chianti. That fennel/rosemary/pepper/garlic flavor combination screams Tuscany to me

We had to make a nod to Italian-American culture, what with all the red wine and meatballs flying around in here. This kinda fits exactly what we were looking for.
